Thanks for this detailed, easy-to-comprehend synopsis. Why are elections held on separate dates during a relatively short period instead of having voters choose all candidates up and down the ticket all at once? Does this not drive down voter participation rates? Also, why does Japan need so many representatives in the Diet?
